Will brake for Feeds

The first thing I would like to request is this~  I think the whole wide world that is Blogosphere should take one (just one) day off….that is, except for me, because that would (completely) suck to lose my     5     solid      days      of      blog      posts      status. We should all take a moment of pause here to salute that glorious Rebecca G. record. I’ve never accomplished such regimented effort in 5 years of blogging!

No, the reason I think everyone (else) should take a day off is because she who holds a personal record, is behind and can’t keep up! I have my little feeder, and it highlights a blog when a person has updated. We all use this nifty application to keep track of blogs right? It’s the allure of that feeder button I can not resist when I visit new blogs. I’m a feed button addict. My name is Rebecca, and I click feed buttons daily. To much information, yes? no? Anyway, so, I take a peek at the feed reader and lets say, 36 of them are highlighted. I’ll go through them, de-highlighting them once I’ve clicked and visited the blog.

But is seems to me, the record holder that I am, I will clear 18 of 36 off the books, but while I’m in the process of doing that, 26 more will pop up into highlighted position. (Clearly a deficit in progress)

Sooooooo, I’ll click through 9 blogs and 15 more highlight. (surprise)

Hit 4 more and 8 new ones pop up. (gotcha)

Hit 1, like clockwork, 3 more smiling back at me. (peekaboo)

Call me crazy, but the reproduction of new feeds is like the reproduction cycle of mice. Multiplicity in electronic form.

Don’t get me wrong, I adore visiting other blogs and reading new and interesting material. I soak it up like sunshine on a beautiful day. I enjoy it THAT much. There must be a method to the madness beyond 1 observed day of abstinence. Oh wise ones out there in Blogosphere, how do you handle ’keeping up’ with all the blogs you read??? Inquiring minds want to know, namely mine.

I just imagined something…. What if everyone decided to do a 30 day/30 post fiesta…..I’d have to quit my job, sponge bath, eat frozen pizzas and hire a ghost visitor. Have Mercy on my feeds~ Since I’m addicted to feeds and links and blogs, maybe other people are as well. So in the spirit of mice, I suggest, go forth, click feeds, don’t blame me for the highlights and enjoy~  A few must clicks ~

Just recently discovered this writer and holy hell she is talented and hilarious. Two blogs, double the feeds. Double the delight. Flibbertigibbet and I am not Kidding Trust me here…….

I really appreciate this writers ability to take the occurrences of life from her view, write about them and we can see exactly where she is coming from. A honest voice that is entertaining and thought provoking is not easy to accomplish in a blog and she’s mastered the skill. Jayna Writes

Curious about music and the writing process? Need to confirm the words writer and crazy DO belong in the same sentence and it’s a good thing? She’s got us covered. I always click away with a smile on my face ~ Debra Schubert

Enjoy everyone, I know I do……….

Is it just me or is 5, that’s, 1,2,3,4,  5  just the best damn number around~

  • Rebecca — Thank you so much!! From someone who I consider an amazing writer (and definite new feed favorite), this means a lot and I’m speechless (rare…haha). Thanks! xo – Ki

  • you just gave me more blogs to read; I do not have a method and thus I miss too many I like —the linear efficiency part of my brain has been on a long hiatus and I miss her so. Thanks for the cute post.

you go girl, I have only been blogging for two months or so and I get tired, love it, but it takes a lot of time for me.

    warmest support

  • Congrats on the 5 days!!! woo hoo!!! Way to go!!!!!!!!

  • miss alaineus

i love me my daily slice of rebecca! my advice on feeds is this. read certain blogs on certain days of the week, ie i might read your blog every four days, but when i come on i will read multiple posts at one time.

the story re the driver’s ed experience was priceless!!!!

  • Thank you, darlin’! How sweet of you!!! You, too, are a positive light in the big, bright, blogging bonanza. Five days in a row? Unthinkable!!!! The more followers, the more blogs to visit. It’s a choice and a commitment. I do my best to check in, but I know I’m missing out on a lot of great stuff. What I love most is that the creativity is boundless.

  • AcK! Putting fingers in ears (or would that be eyes?) Lalalalalalal! I do NOT see new and interesting blog links! I will not click over, read them, love them and add them to my Feed! I won’t, I won’t, I… too late.. sigh..

How do I keep up? I try to read as many as I can inside the reader. Also, I will scan down the reader, click on stuff I want to read to open up in another tab and then get back to them later. Yep, that’s me that you see sitting on your site for a long period of time LOL!

Oh, and if everyone decided all at once to do a 30day/30 posts? I would just have to shut off the computer, curl up in a ball, and have a break down. ;p

  • Okay, you’ve gone and inspired me. I might have to try the five days in a row blog posts too! Oh, and hello new twitter buddy! It looks like I could learn a lot from you AND I get to read new blogs. :)

  • I know what you mean about the feeds multiplying like bunnies. Whew!

I use to try to comment on every entry, every day. Just. Can’t. Do. It. I read them all, but comment only if I’ve really got something to say–a similar experience, feedback, etc. That’s helped me keep up.

    Congrats on Day Five!

  • Now you did it…I had to take a peek from my forced sojourn to see how you were doing (raises eyebrow) and what do you do, indelicately put more tidbits on my plate trying to tempt me back into blogsphere nirvana.

5 is a grand number I’m proud of you hon! Now back into the dark gloom of sorting through the mire that is me (Which I’m kind of not getting anywhere anyway at the moment…sigh, 1st person perspective is far more difficult than I ever imagined.)

Catch ya sometime today in the world of email oblivion. (Hugs)Indigo

  • Find your “Mark all read” button and use it every now and then, Rebecca. Since deleting my old blog, I feel totally free to do that and have on a few occasions. I refuse to read because I feel obligated anymore. I’m a selfish blogger and I admit it. I’m doing this for my enjoyment about two things I enjoy doing, food and photography. That’s it. I read other blogs because I want to, not because they read or comment on mine. I love that it’s no longer quid pro quo.

  • Gah! I will never keep up. Not only are you addition this week, but now you are throwing me new killer blogs to add to my already overflowing feed, I agree, everyone take a couple of days off while I sort through all this brilliance!

  • I”m a feed junkie too! I read through the week but use the weekend to catch up. Once I actually cleared to nothing…. and it lasted a whole minute! lol

  • Ahhh, so this is the wonderful Rebecca who left a fabby comment on my own blog just a little earlier today. Thanx, hun, I must say that I truly do appreciate you doing so. Sorry I haven’t had a chance to reply to your comment just yet but I am having some very serious computer issues at the moment and those issues have made me fall behind by a landslide (not exactly a good start for someone who is completely new to blogging and wanting to post, post, post throughout every second of the day…agh!). However, I will get back to you with that asap, even if it means taking a sledgehammer to my laptop and giving it a good ol’ ass whoopin’ to kick it back into gear.

“WOW,” your blog is fricken’ incredible, I absolutely love everything about it. Not only does it look great but, by God, what a grrrrreat read, too! Holy doodles, did you say 5? As in five days in a row?? Fff, fff, fff…”FIVE???” Oh Lord, girl, if that’s the case you may as well put me in a straight jacket and cart me off to the pysch ward right now. Ha, 5 days in a row, with my computer working the way it is at the moment I’d be darned lucky to manage five seconds, nevermind 5 days. However, I guess it can’t hurt to try so maybe, just maybe…”snap,” whoa, sorry, apparently I dozed off and started dreaming for a second there. Oh well, now that I’m awake and my senses are intact again I can respond to your ‘five days in a row blog posting’ idea and, all I can say about that is; “Can I go back to sleep now?” LOL

Have a good one and keep up the great work. Your blog rocks!

  • Oh I will have to check these out, of course. And I like how your readers latest blog posts are also highlighted by their comments, so I can go check them out, too. In my spare time. (Hahahaha, but, really, I want to.) Thanks for their suggestion.

May I suggest a book to you, “and then there’s this: How stories live and Die in Viral Culture” by Bill Wasik, to be released June 11th. The influence of blog journals, and putting into perspective the need for balancing our 24/7 news, well, I really liked skimming the “prototype” version of the book, and think you may find it intriguing.

  • Oh girl, you can’t blame me! I gave you a few days in between posts to catch up. HA HA HA. I was just writing about how many people I read on my latest entry and how I have such a hard time keeping up sometimes. Sigh.

You are doing wonderfully with this– Keep it up, my friend!
    xo

Heather’s last blog post..I Am Changing..

  • I finally realized I really do blog for me and stopped worrying about how much I am read or commented upon. The flip side of that is I no longer pressure myself to follow every blog entry on my feeder.
I had to reach the accomodation because I realized I would never get some serious memoir writing done if I always had another blog to read. And most I do read have so many more commenters than mine does, that I figure they don’t miss me too much.

    Marc’s last blog post..Shifting Back

  • Ahh..I’m so honored and thrilled to be mentioned in your goddess (this is what I like to call it) blog. I just read your comment and read your entry, and I gotta say, I was sort of losing touch with my own writings (and blogging in general) and you’ve just sparked something in my heart. So this is why I began blogging in the first place and this is why I appreciate writers like you. Thanks again, Rebecca for your encouraging words. I’m so honored that YOU (a brilliant writer and thinker) think my blog is worth reading. :)

    XOXO
