Half Full of Reflection

~Half Way There~
I know the buzz today will be all about taxes, it’s the 15th of April after all. But, you won’t get tax talk from this little tree in the woods. Sorry, no can do,…. for that topic you’ll have to go visit far more mature, focused and purpose driven blogs.
Still here? Fantastic~ Again, it’s the 15th of April and I’m dutifully sitting at my computer like I have every morning for the prior 14 days. I am typing, full of ambition and intention because this marks my 15th daily blog entry. Like, in a row, as in day to day, back to freaking back. ~I rock~ This experience could elevate me from an unpredictable fly by night blogger, to a regular Patron Saint of Religious blogging. I just knew given the expanse of a lifetime, somehow I’d snag a religious designation and this may be my big opportunity.
I can hear it now.
Joe Shmoe nosey somebody asks me, “Are you religious?”
I shall smile, nod vigorously, “Oh yes, I belong to the ward of Word Press and I’m a religious blogger.”
No? In bad taste? Well, I’d get a personal kick out of it and can’t wait to test it out. Here’s my opinion: Ask personal questions that shouldn’t be approached, be prepared to receive answers that make a person scratch their head and the best response they can come up with is ”huh??” Gets’ em everytime~
The way I see it, my glass of word water is half full on this banner halfway mark. My opinion could change to half empty if I hit a brick wall of blinking cursors, but so far I’ve managed to add a drop a day. I’m not even sure what I’ve wrote about for 15 days and honestly, I’m afraid to go back and look. That’s a BAD idea because I’d go all psycho editor on myself and waste precious hours fixing things no one will ever read again. To know and admit ones faults is a noble admission right? Well there you go, one of my faults. Compulsive obsessive word tweaking behavior. It’s why, when I do an entry, I have to write the little sucker in one fell swoop, spell check, publish and run Forest run………
There may be some, specifically people who are newer, who are wondering why I’m making such a big deal out of this Climb Mount Blogger 30 day/30 entry quest. Well, let me tell ya….I’ve been blogging, in theory, for 5 years now and I’ll show you why I’m enthused about my progress. Official record as per the old blog– In the Shadow of the Iris: 2004 (36 entries, started in Nov. that year) 2005 (161 entries GO ME) 2006 (47 entries, major slippin) 2007 (24 entries, proof is in the pudding) 2008 (16 entries- on AOL, then 16 more at blogspot= 32 for whole year) I’ve been such a fair weathered bloggerista.
Marc suggested, at the first of the month, that if I held firm, accomplished each day, by the end of the month I would just keep right on going on with my daily entries. Addictive, legal, habit. Now, Marc maintains a daily blog, so he is worldly and wise about said topic. But my first thought when I read his projection was whooaaaa, when did he fall down and bonk his head! Has he gone insane? But, these days, I’m starting to believe him! Praise the Word Press, I’m experiencing a personal revolution~
Has anybody else out there ever gone 30 full days of blog entries? As in, no skipping, no floundering, no break in the time frame, stick it to your blog 30 days in a singular row? Did you keep going afterwards? Just curiuos~
#BlogFind: This person has two blogs, seperation of interests. The first blog is about photography. He posts amazing pictures, but he also gives guidence and advice about the process. Which is good because I typically point, shoot and pray for the best.Visit Chris @ An Instant out of Time His second blog is a culinary drool fest. This man can Cook! Go Forth, bring a napkin, enjoy Nibble Me This

Oh, am I first today; what a treat. I did not realize you had such a sketchy blogging past. See, the difference between you and I is that I never started blogging back then. I am still far from where I would like to be as a blogger, but if I hold off on having a blog until it garners the attention it deserves, it will be YEARS. I have two babies under 4, a business, and frankly, I am just not that organized. I mean look at me, I’m here, there and tweeting too
I am so happy I met you and happy I suggested more regular blog posts, which was primarily a selfish request based on how much I enjoy it, but there was a sprinkle of intuition that told me your writing here does feed your soul

After 4 years of blogging daily, I’ve only recently let myself occasionally skip a day. But it’s been part of my need to restructure my life without drugs, and become addicted to a whole new, healthy routine. I go to a meeting a day most days, never miss Keith Olbermann either. It’s why the weekends disorient me, still.
I do have a suggestion. That you sequeway from blogging about blogging to just talking about what is going on in your life, or what motif is occurring that day. For example, I LOVE the entry about your daughter’s driving test. It was immediate, but also full of found insight about the nature of your relationship and who she was.
Of course, this involves letting down the wall a little bit more, pulling back the curtain…I’m starting to think you’re in the Witness Protection Program and that’s why you’ve been so careful about opening up.
Please trust that the way you see the world is full plenty enough fodder for the blog.

I agree after many years of blogging daily if not multiple times it trains you. I know for anything if I just sit there and wait nothing will happen. However if I just start doing it will come. The begining may be crap, but it will produce something.
We should really start “The Church of the Word”

Your endeavor to produce the daily nuggets has inspired me. I have written several items that have never been read by anyone but me. So, I’m gonna take my shot. I don’t expect a giant following, but I hope a couple people here and there stop by and read.

I don’t think most people need to become daily bloggers, and I know I don’t need or want to read each person on a daily basis. Just because it is indelibly imprinted on your memory card doesn’t mean I want to read about it every day.
(yes, I realize I don’t have to read)
I think some bloggers can pull daily off, and you are probably one of them. But some can’t hold a crowd’s daily interest & for still others it becomes their life and I think they “write toward” that. Toward their audience, or toward an audience they want to have.
When we were on AOL someone who was posting about every other day used to email & ask if I was ok if I didn’t comment. Yeah, I’m fine, but there is only so much I want to read about your life.
Please don’t encourage every soccer mom to do this.
;-O
I’ve read more than half of what you’ve posted so far & a long while ago I used to read almost all of Marc’s as well, but the 2 of you are writers more than blog writers(to me).A little different.~Mary

A daily blogger? Please. I had my moments where I wrote five or so posts a day, three or four times a week, but one a day for a whole month? Not so likely.
Oh, and I think I’m starting up again. You know the address!

In the beginning of my AOL days blogging on a somewhat daily dose was attempted. That didn’t last long. As Mary said not everyone is cut out for a daily blog. There is a difference between journaling and writing a diary – more often than not people confuse the two.
Write and give them a glimpse of your life, ideas, joy and sorrow. However keep some of the mystery to keep them coming back. I don’t want to know what someone is cooking for dinner or a minute by minute detailed escapade of their day. Honestly I’m not that invested in someone else like that, unless I’m living with them.
You however have catapulted yourself forward with a daily dose of Rebecca. I don’t find you tedious, repetive or boring and that is a very good thing indeed.
By the way – Thanks! You above all have caught the essence of my last post. Then again I didn’t expect any less. (winks) (Yay! your halfway through!) (Hugs)Indigo

Actually, I’ve liked this daily bit this month. It’s more unscripted and kind of like we are just neighbors sharing a beer or glass of wine in the back yard as the burgers (and smoked salmon) gets ready, just chatting away.
And thanks for the shout out linkage:)
Chris’s last blog post..Hello, my name is Chris…
Okay…so I wrote about taxation today. I…just…had…to….
I think I might have mentioned that I did a similar challenge some time ago, and I think it was about a year after I started blogging. I think it became mostly a daily thing after that. And Mary is right–not everyone wants to or needs to be a daily blogger. After your month is up, decide where you want to go from there. You might find that you enjoy getting the words out of your brain and onto the page.
Debra recently posted a couple of entries about Stephen King’s book On Writing. One of the things I always remember him saying (or writing) is that you need to practice. Write write write, practice practice practice. I’ve found that the more you write, the easier it flows.

Wow, just like the Energizer Bunny, the amazing Rebecca just keeps going and going and going. Not that I didn’t expect to see you sticking to your blog-a-day goal, but, still…”WOW!” And let’s face it, your posts are no little ‘nothings’ to talk about, they are sincerely good, thoughtful, interesting posts. If anyone makes my jaw drop in amazement, Rebecca, it’s most definitely you! I guess that’s why what I’m going to say next makes a whole lotta’ sense; you, (you Blogging Goddess, you, lol) have received an award, please stop by The Cluttered Bubble and pick it up at whatever time works best for you.
Wishing you all the best. Keep up the AWESOME work!

My hat is off to you. So far. I certainly have difficulty blogging regularly these days. An entry a day for thirty days? I’d find it awfully tough. But keep poking me, maybe I’ll attempt it one of these months.

First, I hope you do continue to blog, if not daily, at least a couple of times a week. It’s selfish, but I like to read your thoughts! I’ve been very impressed with this whole 30 day/30 entry thing, maybe even enough to give it a try. I, like you, have been a very sporadic blogger. I often think, “Hey, that would make a good entry.”, but by the time I sit down to do it, it just seems lame, or I don’t write it soon enough, then it is just old news. I do spurts of several entries, then you get a month or so dry spell. However, you have inspired me. I’m actually considering giving this a try in May….. Maybe… If I don’t chicken out. LOL! It would help if my life wasn’t so boring ;p I guess I could fall back on posting pictures on any day I can’t come up with a topic!
You write very well. I’ve faved you. I sometimes fall back on posting pictures.
I’m so proud of you! You’re doing great my love!
